Security-enhanced version of robust and reliable POSIX RTOS offers easy Linux-application migration and designed for EAL 4 certification

SDR FORUM, WASHINGTON, D.C., BOOTH #36, October 27, 2008—LynuxWorks™, Inc., a world leader in the embedded software market, today announced that ITT, a diversified high-technology engineering and manufacturing company, has selected LynuxWorks’ LynxOS®-SE 5.0 real-time operating system (RTOS) for the company’s next-generation secure communications products.

The features in LynxOS-SE will enable ITT to speed the development of military communication devices, including Software Defined Radios (SDR) that require less power and support evaluation assurance level 4 (EAL 4). This translates to products that have longer use in the field before having to be recharged and communications that are secure from unauthorized interception.

“ITT’s selection of LynxOS-SE endorses LynuxWorks commitment to providing real-time products that are open, reliable and secure,” said LynuxWorks CEO Gurjot Singh. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with ITT as they quickly ramp production and begin rolling out tomorrow’s next-generation secure communications products.”

LynxOS-SE 5.0 is the first and only time- and space-partitioned RTOS with the ability to run POSIX®, ARINC 653 and Linux® applications simultaneously. LynxOS-SE is based on open standards and is designed specifically to fulfill the stringent needs of multithreaded and multiprocess applications in high-performance systems.

Designed to offer all the benefits of a safety-critical partitioned RTOS, LynxOS-SE has all the functionality of a full POSIX operating system. The addition of security enhancements allows developers to build systems that can be then certified to a medium assurance level. LynxOS-SE is also available as a para-virtualized guest operating system running on the LynxSecure high-assurance separation kernel and hypervisor, allowing seamless migration of medium-assurance applications to a high-assurance platform.
